INCI: Xanthan Gum
Xanthan Gum is a naturally derived polysaccharide produced through the fermentation of carbohydrates by the bacterium Xanthomonas campestris. It is widely used in cosmetics and personal care products as a thickening agent, stabilizer, suspending agent, and rheology modifier. Even at low concentrations, it helps create smooth, uniform textures and improves the consistency and spreadability of formulations.
Xanthan Gum hydrates readily in water to form clear to slightly opaque gels and remains stable across a broad pH and temperature range. It is commonly incorporated into creams, lotions, serums, shampoos, conditioners, face washes, body washes, masks, and toothpaste to prevent ingredient separation and enhance overall product performance. Because it is fermentation-derived and biodegradable, Xanthan Gum is frequently used in natural and vegan cosmetic formulations.
